Senior Trading Systems Engineer - Full Time W2

Salary Range:-
$180,000 - $280,000 (Base)

Position Summary:-
As a Senior Trading Systems Engineer at Prometheum, you will be a pivotal part of our development team, focusing on the advancement and optimization of our trading platforms. Your deep expertise in limit-based order books, order management systems, trading APIs, and message queue/bus systems will be crucial in driving our trading efficiency and strengthening our position in the market. In collaboration with cross-functional teams, you will apply state-of-the-art technologies to keep us at the forefront of the trading industry.

Key Responsibilities:-

  • Take a senior engineering position in the development and refinement of high-performance trading systems, with a particular focus on limit-based order books and order management systems.
  • Lead the integration and management of our proprietary trading APIs (WebSocket) and FIX connector, ensuring seamless and robust market connectivity.
  • Design and oversee the implementation of message queue and message bus systems (Redis Streams, Protobuf) optimizing for high throughput and low latency.
  • Collaborate closely with the trading operations team to convert complex requirements into reliable and scalable technical solutions.
  • Conduct thorough work with testing and QA to maintain system integrity and performance, preparing for and managing peak trading volumes.
  • Proactively tackle system performance issues, devising and implementing solutions to enhance trading efficiency and effectiveness.
 

Required Skills and Experience:-

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in trading systems development, with specific accomplishments in building limit-based order books, order management systems, trading APIs, and messaging systems.
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages including Rust and TypeScript, with a focus on efficacy and appropriate pattern use.
  • Expert knowledge of message queue and message bus technologies, including significant contributions to systems using one of the following: Kafka, RabbitMQ, ZeroMQ, Redis Streams.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced trading environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of working effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
 

Desirable additional skills:-

  • Extensive experience with the FIX protocol and a proven track record of integrating with a variety of trading platforms and exchanges.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Background in financial markets, trading strategies, and quantitative analysis.
  • Previous exposure to a high-frequency trading (HFT) environment.
